Slovenian Competitions in Knowledge of Computer Science

Slovenian Competitions in Knowledge of Computer Science have a long tradition. They started in 1977 as competitions limited only to the former Yugosalvian Republic and organized by the Slovenian Society Informatica (their international journal is called Informatica).

At the same time existed parallel competitions in mathematics and physiscs under DMFA and competitions in other sciences and arts (from History to Chemistry etc.) under Science to Youth - SY.

Around 1984 I suggested to upgrade the activity by:

At SY they supported both ideas and the School started in 1984 with participants from several European countries. On the other hand the immediate result of the second initiative was the introduction of a Yugoslavian competition in CS and the ground was prepared for the international competiton as well.
