IOI 2003 - Call for Tasks The Scientific Committee of IOI 2003 cordially invites authors in the areas of information and computer sciences to submit tasks for consideration for the IOI 2003 competitions. The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is an international event for talented secondary school students to show their talent and capabilities in information science and technology. The tasks for the contest are programming problems, traditionally algorithmic. Tasks of other types, such as those of games, simulation, interactive problems, etc. are also welcome. Generally, the tasks should be suitable for the IOI 2003 competition. In particular, the task should fulfill the following requirements: * The tasks should be innovative and have not been used in any similar competitions before nor exposed to any potential contestant. * The task description should be unambiguous and easy to understand. * The tasks should be culturally neutral. * The degree of complexity and difficulty of the tasks should be suitable for the competition, i.e., they should be solvable in a one or two hours time using C, C++, and Pascal and require only basic computer science knowledge. Past IOI problems are available at: http://olympiads.win.tue.nl/ioi/ SUBMISSION CONTENTS Upon submission, the following materials should be included: 1. The description of the task in English, 2. The motivation behind the task, 3. Solution or solutions to the problem, 4. A plan for generating the test data, and 5. Any other material the author feels is relevant. Solutions should be written in C, C++, or Pascal, and should include a description of the algorithm in English and a complexity analysis. Task authors agree to assign the copyright of all materials submitted to the Scientific Committee of IOI 2003. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to accept, adopt, reject, and modify the submitted tasks and the relevant materials without further notice. CONTACT INFORMATION The tasks should be submitted, via e-mail, to Hal Burch at tasks@ioi2003.org. If you wish to use PGP, the key is available either from www.us.pgp.net or at http://research.lumeta.com/hburch/tasks-pgp.txt (key ID CFB6946F). The submission deadline is Feb. 15, 2003. You will receive confirmation of reception. No more than one task per e-mail, please. For further information, consult the IOI 2003 website at http://www.ioi2003.org/ or e-mail the above address with any questions.
